Exploring loss, remembering lives and understanding how we care.
Grief is part of being human. It can follow a death, changes in health, work or relationships, or the loss of a future we imagined.
The Healing Lens brings together Kathie Melocco’s writing, reflections and documentary stories to explore these experiences. It makes room for questions, memories and conversations about living with loss—and supporting one another along the way.
What We Explore
Grief & Everyday Life
The ways loss accompanies ordinary life: routines that change, relationships we miss and experiences that others may not see.
Remembering & Honouring
How stories, memorials, rituals and shared memories help us honour a person’s life and express what they mean to us.
Change & Identity
What happens when illness, injury, work or relationships change—and we find ourselves reconsidering who we are and what comes next.
Care & Connection
How listening, practical support and continued contact can help us accompany someone through difficult experiences.

Helping us talk more openly about loss.
Many of us want to support someone who is grieving but feel unsure what to say or do. Others carry losses that have never been acknowledged.

Through writing, film and conversation, Kathie explores how we can recognise these experiences and respond with greater understanding. Her work draws on research, lived experience and her training as an interfaith chaplain and end-of-life doula.

People find meaning in different ways: through relationships, culture, spirituality, faith, nature or the everyday ways they remember someone. The Healing Lens welcomes these different perspectives.
